Our monthly QWS Business Meeting will be held, and there will be a potluck dinner and holiday merriment during the meeting.
The annual QWS Mini Retreat is being held at the Maureen B Gauzza Library December 12 and 13th 2025. This is a 2-day sewing event, and it’s free. Sew much fun is had each year and it could be your last-minute rush to finish up those holiday gifts.

Let the games begin with registering through our Eventbrite online registration site. You must be a current member so if you have doubts about your status, contact Millie Chmiel, Guild Membership Chair. Be sure to complete each box. For example, if you have no food allergies, enter the word None in that box.

The cost of the retreat includes your meals. Cost is $125 per night for a semi-private room for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and $115 for Sunday night and $165 for a private room for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and $155 for Sunday night. (It’s called “peak pricing.”) You can register for two, three or even four nights.
If you want a semi-private room, grab a QWS friend for a roommate. And when you register, tell us who the lucky person will be.. You will need to give us the name of your room mate when you register at the Eventbrite site.
The due date for your $50 deposit is the December QWS meeting. You can pay Mary Mahoney at a QWS meeting or mail a check to her directly – 1304 South Pine Lake Dr, Tampa 33612. The remainder will be due at the QWS meeting on January 13th. Dayspring requires us to send them a final count by January 25th so paying on-time will assure you of your place at the retreat.

We have space for 20 so come on over and let's have some fun and get some sewing done. There are several restaurants around, but you are also welcome to bring your lunch. I don't think they have a refrigerator so please keep that in mind. Make sure you bring extension cords, all the outlets are on the wall.
We will have a cutting station set up but you must bring your own rotary cutter and rulers. We will also have a least 1 ironing station, maybe 2 if we are lucky.

This Tuesday is our Back-to-School Themed monthly meeting starting at 6:30pm but there is a social time starting at 5:45pm.
Staying with the theme, we are asking you to bring a school photo, which you will give to Wendy Barnes in an envelope with your name on it please. So, just like on School Picture Day you will need to dress up and make sure you are looking your best for the photographer. These photos will go in our new picture directory.
For Show and Tell, bring your favorite quilting tool to share with the group.
Membership dues of $30 are due by August 31st, to stay on the mailing list. Bring your lunch money in cash or checks for the 50/50 raffle and the sale tables.

December 17th QWS Members only Meeting
Bring a dish to share, either your favorite side dish or a fabulous dessert. Tea/water will be provided..
Also, don't forget to wear your Holiday Tee Shirt or sweater. Let's make this a very Festive meeting!!
Don't forget about the: December Holiday Christmas Block and Ornament Exchange!!
Just a heads up for our new members! At our December meeting we do a Holiday Block Exchange and/or an Ornament (handmade) Exchange. The Holiday Christmas block must be a 12.5 inch square unfinished and it must be wrapped with your name INSIDE. You can also make an ornament, which must be wrapped with your name INSIDE.
Participation is voluntary. You may do one or both. Both items must be handmade. You will get a number when you turn in your package. After dinner we draw random numbers and when your number is called you come up and pick which package looks appealing to you. It's fun to watch the creative ways we wrap our gifts.

The program for July's meeting will be making patriotic fabric postcards to distribute to the veterans
on the next Honor Flight.
Honor Flight takes veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments. It's truly an amazing pro-
gram. Everyone is invited to attend the welcome home party at the Clearwater Airport. I'll send out more
information as the flight gets closer.
I have the stiff material for the middle of the postcards, and Margaret has plenty of muslin for the
backing. We're asking you to bring scissors, scraps of patriotic fabric, and fabric pens so we can write
messages on the back. We can add any fun embellishments we want since these will not be going through the mail.
